Now Mp3 Is Dead ?

Who does not know MP3s? This audio format is very popular from the late 1990s because it offers good audio quality with a file size that is much smaller than the conventional WAV format.

But lately rumors sad news. The creator and owner of the MP3 format, Fraunhofer Institure for Integrated Circuits in Germany, has suspended the license program for MP3 audio codecs.

"We would like to thank the licensing buyers for their support in making MP3 as the world's defacto audio codec, over the past two decades," the Fraunhofer Institute said in a statement.

Termination of this license does not mean the MP3 file on the computer will suddenly stop working. All MP3 files can still be played. The file format is not yet "dead", instead it gets justified to go on.Discontinuing MP3 licensing can be viewed as "good news" because the format is now open without any Fraunhofer patents being licensed.

For example, if a user buys MP3 from an online store, the store has to pay the license fee to Fraunhofer as the patent holder. Well, the payment is now no longer necessary.

Why did Fraunhofer stop the MP3 license? Apparently the audio format was seen to have been left behind compared to other more modern formats such as AAC (iTunes, YouTube), OGG, and MPEG-H.

"The audio formats can provide more features and higher audio quality with bitrate (file size) is much lower than MP3," said Fraunhofer.
Technological developments affect virtually all industries significantly, not just the music industry alone. So in the end that can follow only those who want to explore the technology to the next level

Good By mp3, you still life on my heart :)
